What to do while at Casa De Campo

You can easily visit Casa De Campo and never step foot off of the resort. Casa literally extends 22 square miles and has over 1400 private villas in addition to their hotel. One can literally get lost in the resort which is not a boring proposal as you can drive past villas of the rich and famous (Sammy Sosa, Gloria Estefan, and more).  The resort has many different views and feels as you can tour the coastline and then drive to a higher vantage point where you overlook grand vistas of the Caribbean or mountainous interior regions.

After traveling to the Dominican Republic the past 20 years I have found there are also plenty of activities outside of the resort which are truly enriching. The people of the island are very friendly and provide a safe comforting cultural experience to enjoy a beautiful diverse country. Plan ahead and you can make your trip anything you want it to be from whale watching in the North to white water rafting in the mountains.

The following list of things to do are for activities that are offered within Casa De Campo

•   Golf, golf and more golf: (4 Pete Dye designed courses on site, one more under construction, another in near future plans, and a new course just built (Estancia) just 10 minutes from the resort. Teeth of the Dog, The Links Course, Dye Four, Dye Five (coming soon), La Romana Country Club (Private but you can get on sometimes if you ask the right person), and Estancia (Built in 2008).
•    Tennis: World class Tennis courts with full service ball boys and tennis players to hit with Har-Tru surface

•    Horse Back Riding: The Dude Ranch offers quality horse back riding, lessons, tours and children’s rides as well.

•    Shooting Range: The Casa shooting range offers clay, pigeon and skeet shooting for the beginner to the advanced.
•    Kids in Casa (activities for ages toddler to teen years) to keep them busy during the day
•    Walking Trail: Pick up the walking trail just outside our villa for a good walk to start your day (3.5 mile loop)
•    Beach (Playa Minitas): No trip is complete without a consistent trip to the beach. Playa Minitas is a quick golf cart ride from our villa and hotel area. The beach is complete with beach games, private cabanas, water sports and pure relaxation.

•    Boating: Deep Sea Fishing is offered through the Hotel in Casa De Campo and it is simple to join any group going out to catch a few.
•    Altos De Chavon: High above the Rio Chavon (Chavon River) Altos has stunning views of the Mountains to the north, the River 300 Feet down below, and the Caribbean a few miles to the South. This small village was created to resemble a small Spanish artist community and provides an international feel. Complete with shops and restaurants

•    La Marina: The marina was built several years ago and has truly grown to be the hot spot of Casa De Campo and the island. Walk along the docks to view yachts (big and small) from all around the world. Numerous upscale restaurants and shops encompass the Piazza in the Marina to create a picture perfect setting for a nice dinner or a simple gelado/ice cream.
•    Casa De Campo Hotel: Everyone is welcome at the hotel which provides dining, a business center, several pools for both big and small, and a bit of shopping. The hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes by foot from our villa.
•    Polo Matches: There are polo matches help weekly on the polo grounds next to the Dude Ranch which are always enjoyable to watch. At times Donkey Polo is offered for the children to watch as well.

•    Movie Theatre: La Marina has added a movie theatre to the area which is a nice diversion and addition to the area.
•    Mountain Bike Riding Tour: Tours are offered via bike through the resort and truly offer a great way to see the expanse of Casa De Campo while getting a bit of exercise.
•    Fitness Center: A new fitness center has been added to Casa a few years back that offers all updated equipment in a very comfortable setting
•    Spa: The Cyglene Spa was opened in 2007 and features an extensive menu of spa treatments as well as their own Spa products that are exclusive to Casa De Campo and incorporate many island ingredients.
•    Salon: Yes they have a salon to keep you well groomed while on vacation
•    Wireless Internet Access: Wireless is available but not free. There is a daily fee and discounts for purchasing more than one day at a time. I am sure this will change over time.
Grocery Shopping: La Marina has a nice grocery store to stock up on anything you may need. If you want some local culture and more affordable groceries go into town to El Jumbo which is a comprehensive grocery store offering TVs to Papayas. There are local produce markets as well which can be accessed with a little local knowledge (use our cook Matilda for help)
•    Misc. activities: There are always new activities being added to Casa and sometimes old activities being replaced. Check at the Hotel when arriving and pick up an activities guide which is updates every other day with new events
